People Of The Flame: David Adams Explores The Ancient Traditions Of Iran | Perspective
Iran is one of the earth’s final frontiers. It’s a country little visited by western travellers in recent years, yet it has been at the centre of world affairs for millennia. I wanted to take a peek “behind the veil” of modern-day Iran. What I discovered was a complex, incredibly hospitable people living in a much-misunderstood country at the heart of a troubled region. My journey takes me from the bustle of Tehran, via the Valley of the Assassins to ancient cities unchanged since Marco Polo first entered them eight centuries ago. But this isn’t just a journey through an ancient landscape. It’s a journey in search of one of the world’s least known religious sects ... the ancient Fire Worshippers Of Yazd.

I have watched many of your videos on artists and their art on TV, where there is no 'thumbs up' or 'subscribed' icons. I started watching in January 2024 and now want to let you know of my many hours of delight and laughter at your no-holds-barred analyses and humor. Keep them coming! Luckily I have been to many of these places and taught in high school, so listening to your narrations is a big pleasure for an 86 year old. I give you a big kiss on your cheek.

the viewer gives art its value without a witness to see your art and give an opinion there is no value or art there’s just a thing you did so you can’t really say the value and opinion from people is different it’s directly correlated that’s how economics works somethings valuable because it either took skill to make, looks pretty, or reminds you of something that’s all arts ever been taking what you see in the world and making it yours and reselling it to the world because humans are greedy don’t act high and mighty then charge people to hear you moan on a microphone come on

I remain disgusted by these Paris houses that claim sole authority over the work of specific artists, and refuse to consider they may have made an error in the past. There is more than pride involved here…given the number of forgeries out there that HAVE been authenticated by these same houses, there is a willingness to to prevaricate in the opposite direction as well to protect their reputation. They will keep a known forgery in the approved class lest their “reputation” be called into question, and they no longer remain the FINAL word on a given artist.🖤🇨🇦

When it comes to music, it has to move people. If it doesn’t, aren’t you just making it, for yourself? Which yes, musicians should make what they want to, but don’t COMPLETELY disregard your fanbase. For that same reason Andre 3000’s flute album was not it for me.

Honestly, I felt a bit sad when his wife told him no money to go Amsterdam. Their selling price of those paintings too low. They even don't check the market price. The time and energy they spend shouldn't be so cheap. Omg...

Excellent video. Personally, I don't like the explanation that Peking Opera is called "Peking Opera" because "it's always been called that. Is that the only reason why it has to keep being called that? 🙄 Interesting to learn that Lady General Mu Takes Command was the last song Mei Lanfang ever sang; the main aria sung in Yu opera is possibly my favorite Chinese opera performance. (No offense to Bejing Opera) That the Yu performance was adapted for Beijing opera means that it had that much of an impact. I'd like to see more videos like these on other major Chinese operatic styles, namely Yu, Suzhou, Yue and others. Excellent video, I learned a lot. It was a pleasure to learn some of the history of one of China's works of art.

I have watched your Caravaggio video so many times!! But I’d love if someone anyone did a comprehensive investigation into Caravaggios life what where the circumstances behind the murder of Ranuccio Tommasoni was it a kill or be killed situation?? Was he really guilty?? What made him so dark?? Did he have a bad childhood?? Just because his interpretation of things are dark does that really make him dark does that really mean he was a a dark person?? Survival wasn’t easy, still isn’t but that doesn’t always mean someone is dark or bad. Also the Catholic Church is and always has been a pretty dark place. I just feel like we need more evidence.

Slightly different conditions Soutine had lived then Damian, hadn’t he haha? Damian looks like friends with Oasis or something…with all the somewhat valid reasoning, the circumstances of the experience and exploration was a bit different, but that’s ok. It’s more to think of exploitation of certain themes for certain effects, including financial and shocking effects on public as well as on market. Again, it’s all good when Damian is able to sell it for crazy amounts, Soutine on the other hand had managed to sell his stuff towards end of his life, living quite an edgy lifestyle haha…

Van Gogh didn't cut his own ear off!! Gauguin did that, during a drunken fight, in Arles! ☹ The latter was a horrible pedophile, busy with debauchery in all towns he went to. His paintings weren't pretty but said a lot about how he saw women. In Polynesia he had young female servants, given by colonisers, whom he painted. They were his toy girls... Not one has a nice face, nor a smile, isn't that obvious?? I saw that already as a young child. Same for the young girl he painted, in Brittany. Madeleine was only 17, and he didn't marry her, just fooled around. To not even say goodbye when leaving for good, to Arles. Picasso was another horrible jerk. A misogynist and narcissistic pervert. How come he couldn't be with a person for long? He treated his many women very badly. And he hated his children, and ignored his grand children. Of which one wrote a book of the life with him. Awful details. A lot of male sculptors and painters are awful people. Still nowadays, too... And women are still very few to be respected and regarded. A great pity, because women have so much more to say, and way deeper and interesting art.
